Galway City Community Forum will present a Rented Accommodation Seminar on Wednesday 27th of April 2005 7-9pm in the Menlo Park Hotel, Headford Road. The Seminar is being hosted by Threshold – Galway. The focus of the evening will be on Residential Tenancies Act 2004 and Access to Local Authority Housing (including Affordable Housing, Shared Ownership and the Rental Accommodation Scheme).

PRESS RELEASE
The quarterly meeting of the Galway City Community Forum will
be taking
place tonight 7-9pm in the Training Room, Galway City Council, City Hall,
College Road. All Community and Voluntary Organisations in the City are
invited to attend. The focus of the meeting will be to elect Forum
representatives onto the Co-ordination Mechanisms of the Galway City
Development Board. These Co-ordination Mechanisms are groups consisting of
City councillors, Representatives of state agencies, and Commercial and
Community interests. Their purpose is to co-ordinate and define actions
for the City under a broad range of remits including:
* Arts and Culture
* Community Development
* Health
* Economic Development
* Integrated Transportation Co-Ordinating Group
* Regional Group
* Social Inclusion Group
* Spatial Planning Group
* Sports and Recreation
* Learning Network
* Natural Environment and Waterways
* Tourism
The Forum is currently doing a lot of work in the following
areas of ARTS,
HOUSING, TRANSPORT, SPORTS and RESIDENTS ASSOCIATIONS. Groups involved in
these areas are invited to come along. In addition to selecting the actual
representatives, tonight's meeting is to implement supporting mechanisms or
"interest groups". These will be smaller subgroups made up of interested
community activists whose purpose is to support the new reps and assist them
in presenting promoting the community's views at CDB level.
